Download Subbie for Android
Subbie is a free, local-first subscription and free-trial tracker. It is not on Google Play yet, so it installs from an APK. Here is the official download, and exactly what to expect when you install it.

This page is the only official download. Copies of Subbie appear on third-party APK mirror sites that we do not control or upload to, and we cannot vouch for what those files contain. Download from here, and treat any other source as unverified.
How to install an APK on Android
Android asks for explicit permission before installing an app from outside the Play Store. This is expected, and it takes four taps.
- Download the APKTap the download button above. Your browser may warn that this type of file can harm your device — that warning appears for every APK, regardless of source. Choose to keep the file.
- Open the fileTap the downloaded file in your notification shade, or find it in Files under Downloads.
- Allow installs from your browserThe first time, Android will say the source is not allowed to install apps. Tap Settings, enable Allow from this source for the app you downloaded with, then go back.
- Get past the Play Protect noticeGoogle Play Protect will say it does not recognise this app's developer. Tap More details, then Install anyway. This notice appears because Subbie is not distributed through Play yet — not because anything was detected in the file.
Reminders not arriving? Subbie schedules exact alarms for renewal and trial reminders. Android 14 and later restrict those, and several manufacturers — Xiaomi, Samsung, Oppo, Huawei and others — aggressively stop background apps by default. If reminders are late or silent, exclude Subbie from battery optimisation in your system settings and allow notifications and alarms for it.
Why Subbie is not on Google Play yet
Subbie is built and maintained by one developer. A Google Play listing for a new personal developer account requires a closed test with at least twelve testers who use the app continuously for fourteen days before production access is granted. That process is under way. Until it completes, this page is the official source for Subbie, and it is the only download link we publish.
What Subbie does not do
Being direct about this saves everyone time:
- It does not connect to your bank, card, or any open-banking provider.
- It does not detect subscriptions automatically — you add them yourself, which is exactly why it needs no financial access and works offline.
- It does not cancel subscriptions or move money on your behalf.
- There is no iOS version.
If you want automatic bank-linked detection or cancellation-as-a-service, Subbie is the wrong tool and something like Rocket Money will serve you better.
